Two (horribly photographed) Images of New Crow Pieces!

Three quick photos of the recently completed Crow pieces.

Seven for a Secret Never Told (from the “Counted Crows” Series), 2007, approx. 28 x 20″, Embellished textile assemblage

Four for a Birth (from the “Counted Crows” Series), 2007, approx. 8 x 5″, Embellished textile assemblage

Here’s the poem that is the basis for the series….
Counting Rhyme (from The Folklore of Birds, by Laura C. Martin, 1993)

One for sorrow, two for mirth,
Three for a wedding, four for a birth,
Five for silver, six for gold,
Seven for a secret not to be told.
Eight for heaven, nine for hell,
And ten for the devil’s own sel’.

I’ve got the sketch finished for the Three for a Wedding – I probably won’t get seriously moving on it until after xmas, since that’s xmas-crafty time. But, that’s not saying I won’t start on it soon, especially because the concept & design for this new piece has come together in a way so preternaturally cohesive! (the planets must be out of alignment……)
