current and upcoming exhibitions

Found myself in a flurry of exhibitions, and between the spring exhibition programming at MSU, prepping for the looming visit to the Vatherland, my head is spinning!

Current/Upcoming Exhibitions:

Form Not Function @ the Carnegie, New Albany, IN
National Fiber Directions Exhibition @ The Wichita Center for the Arts, KS
Fiber Invitational @ Berea Arts Council, KY
Mountain Visions @ Reece Museum, Johnson City, TN

After the scare of the almost-lost artwork, I am keeping much better tabs on my work, ala a filing system of pending, current, and previous exhibition. Look at Ms. Organization (or should that be Dis. Organized?!?!?!).

The workshop today at the Gateway Center for the Arts in Mt. Sterling starts off a run of workshops that really heats up April – June. I’m skipping the Americans for the Arts conference this year because if I went, it would be insanely sandwiched between teaching at Confluence (Surface Design Association conference) and CraftSummer @ Miami U of Ohio. Maybe I’d consider it if I didn’t have 1) husband, 2) pets, 3) house, 4) garden, 5) interest in mental health (in that order).

I started my first gouache painting in a while last night as a sketch for an Appalachian Tree of Life based on a traditional Penn Dutch Folk Art Tree of Life. The finished piece will be in fabric, but as I see this being a fairly large piece, it’s better to worked out the kinks in paint/pencil. I love the finished product of gouache, but it is a squirrelly media!
