catching up + CraftSummer 2011!

Can’t believe it’s already early July! The summer has been a rush, with the SDA Confluence Conference and CraftSummer 2011 behind me, and the Berea Learnshops Mini Art Quilt workshop and Embellished Textile Assemblage class at CIA quickly coming up. I’ll be posting images re: these events as I get to them.

Since it’s in my recent memory (the only part that’s working currently!), a few words about CraftSummer 2011 where my friend Juliette Montague and I team-taught for the first time ever. The class was called “Ultimate Assemblage”, and covered techniques including image transfer, incorporating leather, collaging with tin and found objects, shrink art, and the textile media I typically cover in my classes. The week was a really fun time, and the students cranked out some great pieces. Hanging out with Juliette is always a blast, and as per CraftSummer tradition (at least in my experience), a “nutty” theme developed over the week.

A THEME CLUE:

Here’s some photos of selected student work and the class at large.
